The Work of the Trustees
This week, I want to take a moment to highlight the work of our Trustees, Mary Stone, Michael Reams, and our Property Manager Amy Woessner, and myself, as and share an update on one of the projects happening in our building this summer.
In the life of the church, Trustees help care for the physical spaces and property entrusted to us. At Bozeman United Methodist Church, that includes our main church building, the parsonage, and the annex (the white building across Willson Ave from the church where we have a small number of parking spots). Their work involves everything from maintenance and repairs to long-term care, safety, facility use, and helping make sure our buildings continue to support the mission and ministry of the church.
This year, one of the areas Trustees have been focusing on is the upstairs floor of the church. As many of you know, that space has gone through some changes over the years. We began the year by cleaning, sorting, and consolidating items so we could better understand how the space is being used and how it might serve our church going forward.
Now we are preparing to reclaim several rooms upstairs for church ministry while also preparing three rooms to be rented as office space to the public. This will help us make faithful and practical use of the space we have been given.
To make this possible, Trustees and Finance have approved a painting project for the entire upstairs floor this summer. The total cost of the project is $18,000 and will be covered by our Major Maintenance Fund.
We are grateful for the continued stewardship, generosity, and trust of this church. Because of your faithful support, we are able to maintain a Major Maintenance Fund outside of the regular operating budget, which allows us to care for our buildings and respond to projects like this in a responsible way.
Our buildings are not just buildings. They are places where ministry happens, where community is formed, where people are welcomed, and where we continue learning what it means to do good, seek God, and build community together.
Do Good…
